Do you link to library resources such as databases, articles, or streaming videos? If so, read on for changes you need to make for Spring 2024!
The technology is called a proxy server. It allows members of the OC community to use their MyVCCCD logins to access library databases such as ProQuest, EBSCOhost and Kanopy from off-campus.
The proxy server is changing for California Community Colleges. If you provide students any links (URLs) to databases, articles, ebooks or videos that come from library databases, these links will be affected by the change.
If you’re using links that begin like this…
http://proxyoc.vcccd.edu/login?url=
…they need to change to begin with this, instead:
https://login.oxnardcollege.idm.oclc.org/login?url=
If you’ve put links in Canvas or elsewhere, you’ll need to change them for Spring 2024.
You can copy the new URLs from our Databases A-Z LibGuide or from our main Online Resources A-Z page. (This is the list that is part of the LLRC main page.)
Existing links will continue to work through February 29, 2024, but you can begin testing new links right away and contact us if you run into any issues. (This deadline also applies to library database URLs for Moorpark and Ventura College Libraries, if you also teach on those campuses.)
If you have questions or would like help with making changes to links that you use, please contact Tom at tstough@vcccd.edu and I’ll be glad to assist.
(Special thanks to Pasadena City College Shatford Library for their inspiration to create this LibGuide for OC faculty.)
Thank you!
