Using Google Scholar to Access OC Library Academic Articles: Home

The steps to set up access to Library database articles via Google Docs, whether on or off campus.

List of Available Resources

Hello, OC students—your professors may have told you to use Google Scholar and suggested you try it.  What is it?  A gateway to thousands of academic, peer-reviewed articles.  However...many of these only have citations available and/or you click on the link and it says: "Pay $ 40 if you want the full text."  You don't have to put up with that...

Now, you can link to many articles in OC Library's databases with no added cost to you.  Here’s the basic Google Scholar screen:

 Google Docs opening screen

Click on the “hamburger” icon in the upper left, then click on “Settings”:

Links menu for Google Docs, click Settings.

Now, click on “Library Links”:

 Click on Library Links

…then, search for “Oxnard”:

 Search for Oxnard

Voila, Oxnard College Library comes up.  Be sure to click on “Save” at the bottom.  (This step is essential.)

Oxnard College Library link appears, click save

And here’s a sample search.  Note the “Full Text @ OC Library” links that come up:

Full text at Oxnard College Library links

Once you click on one of those links, you get prompted for MyVCCCD credentials if needed, then to a screen to capture the content.  We're receiving reports of good results both on and off campus.

As always, please contact Librarians Tom Stough or Bryan Thompson with any questions.
